Greetings Everyone!

It's February and I personally can't wait for Spring. Here in Maryland it has snowed pretty much every week. I'm going crazy and so are my kids. This month I've included an article to help you keep your kids busy and entertained while being stuck inside. Have fun and enjoy this month's newsletter.

Indoor Activities for Kids

The weather outside is frightful -- snow, rain, ice or maybe even scorching heat. No matter what the weather, you just can't stand to be outside for very long and need something to occupy your kids. Well here's a bunch of tried and true and most importantly fun activities for kids to do inside.

Board Games
These are the old standby in most households. They require 2 or more players and are great at almost any age. Monopoly, Chutes and Ladders, Candy Land, Scrabble, Boggle, Connect Four and more.

Imagination
Here's where kids really shine. Let them use their imaginations. By giving them some basic supplies they can create loads of fun things to do. Some ideas include: forts, space ships, race cars, castle towers, and lots more. Just give them some sofa cushions, pillows, chairs, blankets and cardboard boxes.

Building blocks
With a few tissue boxes, cereal boxes, oatmeal containers, etc. kids can build towers, forts, houses, and more. It can be really fun when the kids use action figures, dolls and other toys with the creations they build.

Drawing
With a couple crayons, markers, pencils and some paper kids can create a wonderful family portrait, cards for friends and family members, an aquarium with fish, plants and of course add water or perhaps an animal at the zoo. Let the kids try to draw their favorite cartoon character, singer, actor or actress.

Crafts
If you are even a little bit creative when it comes to crafts you can try stringing beads into bracelets, necklaces or earrings. Another easy craft is using sand to create pictures by drawing the picture with glue on a piece of paper and then covering the glue with sand. Paper is another craft that is easy for kids. You can create your own book, or fold the paper to create various objects.

Dress-ups -- not just for girls
That's right dress up is not just for girls. While it's obvious for girls to dress up as princesses, boys can also dress up as knights, warriors, cowboys, and soldiers. Don't forget about letting the kids dress up in adult clothes such as hats, ties, shoes and dress coats.

There are lots of fun indoor activities for kids to do. Being stuck inside doesn't have to be boring. Have fun and use your imagination to come up with more fun things to do.

Just For Fun
List 101 things you love or at least like. Then post it your blog or at least keep it somewhere you can see it often. It's not hard once you start thinking about it. Have fun.

Tip of the Month
Break out the crock-pot. I know it may sound old fashioned, but I love using my crock pot. You can put a roast in it in the morning and by late afternoon it's done. Plus the entire house smells great. It is a nice feeling for people to come home to a house that smells of great food. It's comforting.

Great Site
http://www.SnowArt.org Here is a really cool site. With all the snowstorms in the USA lately, this site has come up with some really incredible snow sculptures. One is a 9ft. tall statue of Abe Lincoln. Another is a lighthouse that even has a rotating light in the top. How cool is that?!! They usually build lots of kid friendly statues such as the characters from Madagascar, Snoopy, Wonder Pets, etc.
